02 drug peddlers arrested, Quintals of poppy straw recovered | KNO

Srinagar, November 26 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir police while continuing its drive “war against drugs”, arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered three Quintals of poppy straw from their possession. Acting on credible information, Kulgam police laid a naka at Upper Bazar Qazigund under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund Shri Aftab Bukhari. During naka checking, a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C 4750 was intercepted. During checking 300 Kilograms of Poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. Two persons namely Altaf Ahmad Hajam son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Arwani Hassanpora Bijbehara and Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Anwar resident of Sangam Panjpora who were boarding the vehicle were arrested and the vehicle was seized. Qazigund police has registered a case and investigation was taken up. Worth to mention that a helpline has already been established by Kulgam police for general public.
